“ We can accomplish
something extraordinary with love in one day.”
Mother Theresa.
There are many ways to lend a helping hand at the
Global Gathering Place:
-
ESL tutoring
Help newcomers improve their reading and writing skills
one-on-one or in small groups.
-
Program assistants
Activities occur at Global Gathering Place almost every day of
the week. Talk to our staff about becoming an assistant on a
regular basis for the ESL, Children's, Women's, Tuesday evening,
or Family program.
-
Work connections/mentoring
Many of our newcomers could use the advice and wisdom of local
residents as they search for their first job in Canada.
-
Planning special events
If you would prefer to make a once per year short-term
commitment, our ethnic suppers, annual garage sale, or annual
fundraising dinner may be a volunteer commitment for you! These
events always require energetic people to assist with planning.
-
Committee work
The
Global Gathering Place has several committees: The public
awareness, policy, fundraising and finance, and volunteer
committees meet monthly and carry out the work of the Board of
Directors.
-
Funding
If you enjoy the challenge of asking for donations, writing
proposals, or networking with funders, consider working with the
Fundraising and Finance Committee.
-
Public awareness
If you like to speak to small or large groups, update websites,
create advertising material, write articles, produce annual
reports, or staff booths at trade shows, the Global Gathering
Place needs your enthusiasm and marketing skills!
Global Gathering Place offers training and a
friendly group of people to work with. Simply contact the office and
make an appointment if you are interested in volunteering.
You could make a
difference in ways you never imagined! |
