ESL - English as a Second Language Classes

CLB 1-2 Stage 1 English Programs are offered in two different locations, two times per week.

  1. Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 9:00 am - 11:30 am at the Meadowgreen House for All Nations, 501E Avenue W South (in the Meadowgreen Strip Mall). map
  2. Monday and Wednesday mornings, from 10:30 am - 1:00 pm at the Meadowgreen House for All Nations, 501E Avenue W South (in the Meadowgreen Strip Mall). map
  3. Tuesday and Thursday Evenings, from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm at the Global Gathering Place, 100 5th Avenue North. map

These classes are designed for English language learners with a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) rating of one or two. Eligible clients must:

  • be 18 years or older
  • have lived in Canada fewer than five years
  • have language benchmarks 1-2
  • be temporary residents, international students, or their spouses or dependents
  • be permanent residents who can't attend other English classes

  • be 18 years or older
  • have lived in Canada fewer than five years
  • have language benchmarks 3-4
  • be temporary residents, international students, or their spouses or dependents
  • be permanent residents who can't attend other English classes

LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) classes are open to Permanent Residents and are delivered at the Global Gathering Place, 100 5th Avenue North.

Initially developed in response to the language needs of the parents of EAL students at Vincent Massey School, this class is open to all Permanent Residents. Call 665-0268

The result of a collaboration between several concerned agencies, organizations, and individuals, this class provides hard-of-hearing newcomers with the essentials in American Sign Language and English.
